General Election 2020: Important Deadlines & Information

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.Voting is one of the most important things U.S. citizens can do. Our city benefits when everyone makes their voice heard.Whether voters choose to vote by mail or at the polls, all voting options are safe, legitimate, and secure. This post below will cover how Philadelphians can:

  • Apply to vote by mail-in or absentee ballot
  • Turn in a mail-in ballot
  • Vote at the polls.

Remember, it is recommended that if you are sending any applications or ballots through the mail, make sure to mail them EARLY. October 19 is the deadline to register to vote in Pennsylvania. October 27 at 5 p.m. is the last day for your county office to receive mail-in and absentee ballot applications.

November 3rd is the day of the General Election. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. As long as you are in line by 8 p.m., you will be able to vote. Voted mail-in and absentee ballots must also be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

If you have any other questions, the Philadelphia City Commissioner’s website provides useful information for voters regarding upcoming elections. You can also visit VotesPA for any statewide updates and general information about voting in Pennsylvania. 2020 General Election Guide
