STREETS DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES STREET IMPROVEMENT FOR NORTH PHILADELPHIA Temporary, Full Street Closures and Parking Restrictions Expected PHILADELPHIA – Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced today that street improvement work is expected to begin this week in areas of North Philadelphia. The work schedule includes temporary, full street closures and parking restrictions, expected to last until mid-July. Weather or special events in the area may alter the work schedule.
The contractor will perform street improvement operations on the following streets:
Street Police District
N. 12th Street from Glenwood Avenue to Lehigh Avenue 25th
N 12th Street from Susquehanna Avenue to Diamond St 22nd
N. 17th Street from Susquehanna Avenue to Norris Street 22nd
N. 18th Street from York Street to Westmont Street 22nd
N. 19th Street from Diamond Street to Glenwood Avenue 22nd
N. 21st Street from Norris Street to Glenwood Avenue 22nd
N. 33rd Street from Ridge Avenue to Lehigh Avenue 22nd
Fontain Street from 30th Street to 33rd Street 22nd
N. Etting Street from Page Street to Sedgley Avenue 22nd
N. Marston Street from Page Street to Sedgley Avenue 22nd
N. Page Street from Etting Street to Marston Street 22nd
W. Norris Street from N. Broad Street to 20th Street 22nd
W. Sedgley Avenue from 22nd Street to Myrtlewood St 22nd
W. Susquehanna Avenue from Germantown Avenue to N. Broad Street 22nd/26th
Work will be completed in separate phases – milling, adjusting of manhole covers, and resetting of utility boxes – which will take place in separate activities. Operations for the milling work will be performed during the day hours, between 7A.M. and 4P.M. Milling of each street segment is expected to last approximately 1-2 days per street. Work for adjusting of manhole covers and resetting of utility boxes will be scheduled during the day, between the hours of 7A.M. and 4P.M., and is expected to last approximately 1-2 days per street. Schedule of operations for the final asphalt resurfacing on these streets will be announced via a separate press release. To complete the work, residents should expect parking restrictions. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling around the work areas. Temporary ‘No Parking’ signs will be posted in advance of each scheduled activity. Residents are urged to move their cars from the work sites when temporary ‘No Parking’ signs are posted, so that vehicles are not towed. In the event a car is towed, please contact your local Police District to determine its location. While the Streets Department will make every effort to minimize disruption to traffic, citizens are urged to plan ahead and use alternative routes when traveling in these areas.
